Guidelines and Forms for File Requests
The AAP Higher Education Critical Issues Task Force (CITF) recognizes the need for institutions of higher education to provide course materials in alternate formats to students with qualifying disabilities in a more time-sensitive and less labor-intensive manner. To that end, the CITF is working on initiatives to assist the institutions by streamlining the process and by helping to more easily locate the needed files or obtain permissions to scan.
Our first initiative has been to standardize guidelines and forms among the various publishers, as a beta test. These materials can be found at the links below, but please note that you will still need to go to the individual publisher’s site in many cases, since some publishers prefer requests be made on-line whereas others prefer requests by fax or e-mail. Please see the individual publisher's page on the Look-Up Service for specific instructions.
Over the next few months, the Publishers are beginning work on a new site with increased functionality. You will be hearing more from us as work progresses. In the meantime, we would appreciate receiving your feedback on the beta guidelines and forms.
